August Events

On August 1st from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm plan a Family Day in the Park

Pack your picnic basket and put your family in the car and head to Veteran's Memorial Park in Montgomery for a fun filled day.  Enjoy lunch with your family and then grab some watermelon (provided by the Village) and share it with your Montgomery family and friends.

There will be plenty activities for the entire family throughout the day.

You may choose to use the play ground, play basketball, play tennis or join in the old fashioned games; sack-races, two-legged races and water balloon toss.

The family may choose to take a walk through the pleasure grounds or just sit by the river for awhile.  There will also be old fashioned craft activities such as candle dipping, quill pen writing, a fishing game and feather darts.

The Sheriff's Department will be doing child fingerprinting.

All day long there will be music on the bandstand by “Breakneck Annie”.All day long there will be music on the bandstand by “Breakneck Annie”.

“Breakneck Annie” is a band performing Americana, Folk/traditional Music.  Good time music-not quite bluegrass, not quite old time, not quite folk.  The band is rarely serious and always fun.

Five musicians playing banjo Gene Mueller, mandolin Graham Vest, -guitar Terry Seeley, accordion Anne Loeb, washboard Bill Buskey and an expanding array of instruments and other implements of destruction. Perfect for a Picnic!

Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets!!!

alteregoz-logoJoin us on August 6, 2010 from 6pm-10pm in  downtown Montgomery (Old Post Office) for an outdoor concert with the band Alter Egoz.

About ALTER EGOZ:

alteregozWe have many musical influences, ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Neil Diamond, funk, metal, jazz, blues, country, rock, reggae, techno, pop disco...even TV show themes. And you will hear them all at a show!

Band Interests: ALTER EGOZ is interested in entertaining YOU. If you are looking to go out, have a great time with friends, listen and dance to live music that YOU want to hear, then check our list of events! We'll play everything from funk to punk, rap to reggae, elvis to ozzy, surf to metal, from War to The House of Pain to The Killers, from The Beatles to the Doors to The Cars!

The  musicians that make up the core of ALTER EGOZ are:

Steve Angelone (Guitar, Vocals): Steve leads the group with a lifetime of experience playing in the lower Hudson Valley region. His guitar playing rivals all others in the area and his ability to adapt his style to different genres give the band the flexibility it needs to please the crowd. You will be pleasantly surprised at Steve's ability to be a rocker, a rapper, a crooner and a fiddler...all in the same night. Naturally, Steve is the driving force behind the band's extensive and eclectic set list.

Steve LaFalce (Drums): Steve is our newest addition to the band. A great drummer and even greater guy, we're excited to have him on board. Come on out and show him your support!

Ron Pavia (Keyboards, Vocals): Ron is our piano man, sound effects guru and all-around entertainer. Ron is a pure product of the 1980's when keys & synth were king. So we make him sing "Crazy Train" to get him out of his comfort zone. Seems to be working so far.

Kris Pushlar (Bass Guitar, Vocals): Kris is not Italian and is not named Steve. Those were the only qualifications the band had for a bass player...so he's in!

For more information about AlterEgoz, visit their myspace page at myspace.com/alteregozny   or become a fan on their faebook page at facebook.com/pages/ALTER-EGOZ/343370514099?v=info

If it rains this concert will be held in the teen center not the senior center (as previously advertised).

Eagle Scout Project - Time Capsule

James Byam has proposed a time capsule as his Eagle Scout project.  We are happy that he has taken an interest in his community and wants to help us celebrate our Bicentennial.  The Boy Scouts of America are celebrating their Centennial this year, so it’s appropriate that this is James project.

He plans to include information in the time capsule from the following organizations: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Legion, Police and Fire Department, 4H, Historical Society, Board of Education and the Bicentennial Committee.

The Time Capsule will be placed next to the Clamshell in the Veteran’s Memorial Park with a couple of park benches.

Time Capsule Dedication

There will be a dedication at 7:00pm on August 20. Plan to attend this historical event, followed by the West Point Band at 7:30pm.
