The Bicentennial Beard Committee for the Village of Montgomery is actively encouraging all men in the area to join in the fun and begin preparing for a beard contest that will be held in front of DeLessio's Barber Shop on Clinton Street on Saturday, July 24th at 3:00 PM.
Any and all types of facial hairstyles will be accepted in entering the contest. Permits to sport facial hair may be obtained for $3.00 at our local barber shops...DeLessio's on Clinton Street and Ilir's on Union Street.
The committee has ordained, however, that in honor of the bearded founders of our village, any man wearing a beard, mustache or any other type of facial hair on July 24, 2010 must carry a permit or risk being arrested by our competent Keystone Kops, and may be fined and/or incarcerated in our newly constructed hoosegow which will, on that day, stand in the center of the village.
For those who officially enter the contest, prizes will be awarded for best beards in several different categories. These categories will be listed on the Village Bulletin Board as well as in shops in the village by March 30, 2010.
