July 9, 2010 - Concert with Haywyre at Veteran's Memorial Park

About Haywyre

Marty Ascolese and Dave Atkinson first crossed paths early in the new millennium and would cross paths several more times over the next few years. They played many of the same events with their separate bands during those years. Marty with the band “Oblivious” and Dave with “Freight Train” never seeming to get the timing right to play together in a band situation. The tragic loss of “Oblivious” bass player Larry Mitchell and the decision not to continue with out him left Marty with extra time to work on his solo album “My Turn to Drive” which he had written the music for many years before. Marty invited Dave to play the lead guitar tracks on a couple of the songs on the album and the result was interesting. Marty’s music was transformed from acoustic guitar based country style to a modern style Blues/Rock & Roll. At that point the first talk of a new band began. By this time Marty was playing with an Orange County band called “Contagious” and Dave was playing with “Diamond in the Rough”.

Marty and Dave decided if a new band were to be formed, that Marty would come out from behind the drums and become the front man playing acoustic guitar and singing lead vocals. Art Roescher from the band “Contagious” recorded some of the bass tracks on Marty’s album and joined the group in 2006 when our original bass player went on to record his own solo album. Art is a well known bassist in Orange County. His experience with every type of music makes working with him a pleasure. He is a walking song book as well as a fine acoustic guitar player. Dave Rysdyke is our newest (member on the drums) . He brings a lot of experience, a fresh attitude and motivation to our music . As you can tell we are surrounded by a lot of good musical people. We are moving forward and following our dreams and goals. To date this is the story of Haywyre.

The band is currently booking local shows playing a carefully selected song list including many of the songs from Marty’s “My Turn To Drive” cd, the bands up coming cd and many great classics. With Marty’s soulful vocals and shimmering acoustic guitar, Dave’s high energy leads and punchy rhythm, Dave Rysdyke’s steady beat and creative fills, Art’s thundering bass makes “Haywyre’” a Rock and Roll experience one wouldn’t want to miss. As far as our name goes, we rehearse in an old Hay barn that we converted into a studio and as you may or may not know it’s the Haywyre that holds it all together.
